MORE INFORMATION
Poodle – The Breed
Poodles are characterized by a light structure, a shorter muzzle, and a very curly coat, traits accompanied by a particularly sensitive and serene temperament. It is an affectionate, intelligent dog, very attentive to its surroundings, and capable of easily adapting to family life and household routines.
They are dogs that enjoy play and activity, but they also know how to relax and respect moments of calm. This ability to alternate energy and tranquility makes them a very comfortable breed to live with at home.
As with any dog, education and environment are fundamental. Proper breeding from the first months helps the puppy grow up confident and balanced, becoming a loyal companion who is easy to train.
Size
Toy Poodles and Miniature Poodles are mainly defined by their height at the withers. According to the standard, the Toy Poodle measures approximately between 24 and 28 cm, while the Miniature Poodle measures between 28 and 35 cm. As with any living being, small variations exist, and not all individuals fit exactly within a specific measurement.
It is important to understand that size and weight work very similarly to people. Parents of a certain size can have offspring that are slightly smaller or slightly larger, and although genetics guide us, they do not allow for exact predictions. The estimation of adult size is based on the parents’ information and on the puppy’s development during the first months, but growth is not always linear and there may be periods of faster or slower development.
Factors such as balanced nutrition, activity level, and individual development also influence final weight. From experience, our adult Poodles present a proportionate and homogeneous structure, with weights that vary very little from their parents. The most reliable way to estimate is by observing their development from three or four months of age.
COLOR
Color in Poodles is a fascinating and complex aspect, and one of the topics that generates the most interest. There are two main pigments that determine coat color: eumelanin, responsible for black tones, and pheomelanin, which produces reddish tones. From these bases, the full range of colors found in the breed develops.
Black is a dominant pigment, while other colors such as red, apricot, or chocolate require specific genetic combinations. The final intensity of the color does not depend solely on these pigments, but also on other genes that influence how it is expressed and maintained over time. For this reason, a puppy’s color may evolve with age, becoming lighter or more intense as they grow. If you have any questions, we can gladly explain it in more detail in person.
The Poodle’s color is one of the most striking aspects of the breed and also one of the most likely to evolve over time. We mainly work with intense red and apricot colors, ensuring they maintain warm, well-defined tones in accordance with the breed standard.
Red and apricot can appear in different intensities, from softer shades to deeper and more vibrant colors. For this reason, although we provide guidance regarding color evolution, it is not always possible to guarantee an exact shade in adulthood. Each Poodle is unique, and its color forms part of its identity.
Our goal is to raise Poodles with good pigmentation and a healthy, beautiful coat, always prioritizing the health and well-being of the dog above any aesthetic aspect.
GENETICS AND HEALTH
For us, genetics is one of our top priorities. It is not only about appearance, but about ensuring healthy, well-balanced dogs with a good quality of life in the long term.
For this reason, we carefully select our breeding dogs with the highest level of knowledge, care, and dedication, taking into account both their health and their temperament and balance. We work with controlled bloodlines and carry out genetic testing on all our breeding dogs to detect potential hereditary diseases specific to the breed, such as progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), Von Willebrand disease, or predisposition to patellar luxation.
This work allows us to avoid risky pairings and minimize the likelihood of transmitting health issues, always prioritizing health over any aesthetic criteria.
The Price of Poodles
Choosing a Poodle is a decision that goes far beyond price; it is one of the most wonderful moments in a person’s life to have the opportunity to grow their family. It is a small dog that usually has very small litters, often one or two puppies. For this reason, immediate availability is not always possible, and each puppy receives highly individualized attention from day one.
In our home, we take special care of the mothers and respect their resting time between litters, because their well-being is just as important as that of the puppies. Breeding in this way involves dedication, time, and many daily responsibilities, from veterinary follow-up to socialization, nutrition, and constant affection.
For those looking for a puppy with a very limited budget, it is important to understand that small breeds such as the Poodle require very specific care and attention from birth. Veterinary care, check-ups, possible assistance during whelping, and care during the first days mean that it is not always possible to offer very low prices without compromising quality and the puppy’s well-being.
From experience, we believe it is essential to be well informed about the dog’s origin and to be cautious of offers that do not align with responsible breeding. Sometimes differences are not noticeable when the puppy is small, but they may appear later in the form of health or temperament issues, or even in the fact that the dog is not truly a Poodle.
Our advice is always to prioritize peace of mind, transparency, and the care with which the puppy has been raised, keeping in mind that they will be a lifelong companion for many years.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PUPPY’S PRICE?
Our puppies are ready to go to their new homes from 8 weeks of age, once they have properly completed this essential early stage with their mother and litter.
During this period, we focus on gradual socialization, exposing them to everyday household stimuli and situations to ensure well-balanced, confident, and well-adapted dogs.
Before going to their new homes, all puppies meet the appropriate health requirements for their age:
- Internal and external deworming
- First vaccination schedule
- Full veterinary health check
- Microchip identification
- Updated health record
Each puppy is handed over through a personalized process, where we explain everything needed for the first days (feeding, adaptation, routines, and basic care). Puppies go to their new homes with their usual food to ensure a smooth transition.
Our commitment does not end at handover — we remain available for any questions or ongoing support.
First Days at Home and Training
The first days at home are essential for a puppy to feel safe and begin adapting to its new environment. It is important to offer calm, clear routines and plenty of affection, allowing the puppy to gradually get to know its new home.
To support families during this process, we provide each puppy with a complete dossier including all documentation and detailed information on care, adaptation, feeding and basic training guidelines. On the website, we share only general guidance, as we believe this support deserves a personalized and calm explanation for each family.
